What is the difference between LCD and LCM?

2022-04-09

LCD and LCM are mainly different in structure composition and property definition.

1. The difference in structure
LCD refers to placing a liquid crystal cell in two parallel glass substrates, a TFT (thin film transistor) is arranged on the lower substrate glass, and a color filter is arranged on the upper substrate glass.

LCM refers to components that assemble liquid crystal display devices, connectors, peripheral circuits such as control and drive, PCB circuit boards, backlight sources, and structural parts.

2. Different definitions of properties

The properties of LCD are defined as liquid crystal displays.
The nature of LCM is defined as LCD display module, liquid crystal module.

3. Notes on using LCM:
1. Because the display screen inside the LCM module is composed of two thin pieces of glass, it is easy to be damaged. Therefore, special care should be taken during installation and application.

2. When cleaning the module, use a soft cloth dipped in a little solvent (recommended as follows) and wipe it lightly.

3. The driver IC used on the LCD module is a C-MOS large-scale integrated circuit. Therefore, please do not connect any unused input terminals to VDD or Vss, do not input any signal to the module before the power is turned on, and ground the operator's body, workbench, and assembly table. The installation equipment should be protected from static electricity.

4. The LCD module should avoid violent vibration or fall from a height.

5. To prevent the module from aging, avoid working or storing in direct sunlight or in a high temperature and high humidity environment.
